Mallorca: My Honest Review of Ca’s Patró March
I’m sure you’ve seen the famous Ca’s Patró March waterfront restaurant all over social media if you’ve been looking for places to go in Mallorca, Spain. I had seen hundreds of videos and photos of this restaurant so we made a reservation and went to try it during my Spanish vacation.
This is my honest review of what you can expect eating here which is beyond what you see on eye-catching social media posts:
Overall Rating
Driving to the restaurant can be very difficult
What I wasn’t expecting coming to the restaurant is that it’s quite the journey to get there. There is only one road that leads you down to Cala Deià where the restaurant is, which is an extremely narrow road. It’s technically a two-way street but the width is just slightly larger than one lane going down the mountain (based on US standards). This led for a lot of cars to have to very slowly pass each other or pull over to the edge of the mountain to let cars pass. This drive was not for those that are scared of driving. You’ll then park at one of the lots about a 10 minute hike away from the restaurant so prepare extra time beforehand for getting here.
Waits are long, even if you have a reservation
Everyone who checked in had reservations but were asked to wait ~1 hour for their table. We personally didn’t mind waiting because of the beautiful location but this did mean rearranging plans for this agenda packed day that was planned. After waiting, we faced an issue with the host who gave our table to the wrong group and nearly refused to seat us once this was realized. This was a really poor customer experience after waiting over an hour for our reserved table.

There are only a few picturesque tables along the waterfront, with most being more inward of the restaurant
Many people were really disappointed when seated more inside of the restaurant that had very partial views of the water. The staff was also clearly frustrated by how many people at these tables request to be moved so they were rather snappy at people asking what the options are to move tables.
On the other hand, the views are stunning if you get a good table
If you are lucky enough to get a good table, the views of Cala Deià and the Mediterranean Sea are beautiful. These tables absolutely live up to the hype on social media of the view and experience that you are eating above the bluest water. An interesting observation – there are only two 2-person tables, two 4-person tables, and then I believe six large group tables along the water. This means that if you are a small group, chances are you would likely not get seated at one of these top tables.
They don’t take any table requests
There are signs up when you check-in, which will also get echoed by all the workers, that you cannot request a table specifically by the water. It honestly makes sense why they do this because everyone would want to sit on the edge with a view, but this does mean you may not get the experience you were necessarily planning.

There is a €30 minimum per person and it is cash only
Due to the high popularity of this restaurant, they have a minimum charge per person (€30) so that you cannot stop by for just a drink. The food items are quite pricey however so this can be hit with simply an entree and a drink or appetizer. They also request each payment to be made in cash as there is no service/WiFi at the restaurant. There are no nearby ATMs either so please keep this in mind.
The food was delicious!
I ordered the shrimp salad as an entree + the calamari for an appetizer and both were really delicious. A lot of people were ordering the lobster which had raving reviews amongst those seating near me, albeit a little more of a splurge.

Conclusion
Overall, the 3 star rating comes from the long wait (with a reservation), the rude service, and surprising table layout. However, if you are in Deia around lunchtime, I think this can be a wonderful lunch with some of the best views I’ve been lucky enough to see while having a meal. It’s just important to keep expectations leveled that the experience is very dependent on the table you are seated at which is mere luck.
I personally recommend Gran Folies instead for a waterfront restaurant. The views here are arguably even more beautiful with every table having a wonderful view. The food is also really high quality here so it makes for a personally higher ranking than Ca’s Patró March. Check out more of Mallorca on my travel guide to the beautiful island.
